After an hour and a half of fighting with the materials, I have come this far. It's the first time I've worked with the Slow Dry Medium. I pasted the paint on extremely thick and tried to blend the colours on-canvas, with mixed results. Adam wants the change from one colour to another to be smooth, but the result here is streaky - perhaps due to my lack of patience. It was a bit of a one-shot technique - if I discovered something was wrong and tried to fix it, I would end up having to re-stroke huge areas of the painting to maintain a smoothness.
The close up shows how messy the surface became after repeated strokes.
Next I'm going to use a very dry brush technique to try to smooth out the harsh lines.
